After nearly 25 years with Mountain Line, CEO and General Manager Heather Dalmolin officially announced her retirement effective November 6, 2026.

Heather began in Finance at Mountain Line in 2002, serving as one of the agency’s first employees. Throughout her tenure she has served in nearly every facet of the agency, including Human Resources, Information Technology, Customer Service, and Administration. Heather was named the CEO and General Manager in 2020, and led the agency through more than six years of achievements, milestones, and celebrations, including:

  • Navigating the response to the COVID-19 pandemic while cutting service and retaining staff, and the subsequent rebuilding of service and ridership post-pandemic.
  • Design and construction of the Downtown Connection Center.
  • Successful ballot initiative to expand transit in Flagstaff over the next five years.
  • Secured more than $25 million in funding for a new maintenance facility.
  • Introduction of the first battery electric buses to the community.
  • Opening of the region’s first dedicated Commercial Drivers License (CDL) testing and training course.

Heather is widely recognized as an industry leader on local and national transit issues, and has served on the boards of the Southwest Transit Association and the Arizona Transit Association.

“On behalf of the Mountain Line Board, I would like to recognize Heather’s nearly 25 years of dedicated service to Flagstaff public transit,” said Mountain Line Board Chair and NAU Associate Vice President of External Relations Josh Maher. “Under Heather’s leadership, Mountain Line is a thriving and robust organization, and the impact of her contributions will be evident for years to come.”

The Mountain Line Board will conduct a national search for the next CEO and General Manager, and have named MetroPlan Executive Director Kate Morley as Mountain Line’s Interim CEO and General Manager effective July 1, 2026. Heather will continue to serve in an advisory role during the transition. Kate will retain her position at MetroPlan while fulfilling the interim role.

“During her tenure as CEO and General Manager, Heather led Mountain Line through some of the agency’s most challenging times, and celebrated some of the most significant milestones,” said Mountain Line Board Vice Chair and Flagstaff Vice Mayor Miranda Sweet. “The Board is committed to building on this impressive legacy and ensuring the next leader continues this tradition of excellence.”
